Some pundits have started calling it the "horror show ". More economists are predicting a 'double dip' recession. But conservative leaders continue to hide behind (largely bogus) deficit fear-mongering to block federal programs to put America back to work. These same 'deficit hawks' want to maintain tax breaks for the rich and block fair taxes on the Wall Street speculators that created this crisis. Meanwhile, corporate America is sitting on so much cash reserves that only 20% of that money could provide a $70,000/year job to 5 million Americans . for 5 years. On September 15, Jobs with Justice coalitions and allies across the country will be asking Congress to declare what the rest of us have known for a long time: we are in a Jobs Emergency. Will you help organize the Western Mass. part of this campaign? RSVP . Friday August 20 (Every Friday) JOBS EMERGENCY ORGANIZING 10-11:30am, at the Central Labor Council, 640 Page Blvd, Springfield. Get directions here . National Jobs with Justice has put out a call for a National Jobs Emergency Day of Action on September 15 and joining the One Nation March on Washington October 2 (see http://onenationworkingtogether.org/main.aspx). We have begun organizing for these at weekly meetings in Springfield and will possibly have organizing committees in other cities. Can you come? RSVP . We believe workers' rights are human rights and to be successful, we have to be part of a larger campaign for economic and social justice. To that end, "J with J" has created a national coalition and a network of local coalitions that connect labor, community, student, and faith-based organizations and activists on workplace and community social justice campaigns. Western Mass JwJ - founded June 5, 1993 - is now a coalition of almost 70 organizations. Let's keep in touch - please check out our mailing lists at http://wmjwj.org/our-lists. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
